Maša Gala is a visual artist working in painting, printmaking, and photography. She graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where she received the national Prešeren Student Award for painting. She continued her studies in photography at UMPRUM in Prague. Since 2012, Gala has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in Slovenia and internationally. Her work is included in numerous public and private collections. She has also collaborated with the artist collective 3kolektiv. Her art practice explores perception, materiality, and the relationship between the artwork and the viewer. She develops layered visual structures that prioritize experience over narrative and presence over explanation, addressing themes of personal and collective memory, eroticism, spatiality, and the role of the body in physical and digital environments. Alongside her artistic practice, Gala is active in organizing international cultural events, festivals, and residencies, maintaining professional connections worldwide. She lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
