Ábel Szabó – Hungary

STUDIO @ Landhaus zu Appesbach

Ábel Szabó was born in 1974 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Since 1989, he has lived and worked in Hungary. He graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 1998, specializing in Graphic Arts. Currently based in Budapest, his creative practice focuses on the intersection of painting and printmaking. While his work has explored consistent themes over the years, he continuously adapts his approach to reflect contemporary challenges. His paintings and graphic works are deeply inspired by the urban landscape and industrial environments; the concrete and metal masses of architectural structures serve as recurring motifs in his work. Through his art, he seeks to examine and portray their striking monumentality while reflecting on the pressing environmental and social issues of our time. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. In addition to his studio practice, he actively participates in international residency programs, workshops, and conferences, and he also shares his expertise as an instructor of graphic arts at the University of Szeged.
